It’s that time of year again. That time when we scratch our heads, wonder where the year went, and resolve to make changes in the New Year.
As I look back on 2015, I see that the more things change, the more they stay the same.
We’re getting the attention of candidates with Mobile GeoFencing and building relationships with Social Media, but we’re also doing a lot of snail mail postcards again. Print media isn’t gone but it’s being used sparingly and strategically along with Digital Solutions. Understand how your target audience communicates and adapt accordingly. We can help!
Earlier this year, I had the pleasure of attending the NAHCR conference in New Orleans and the ERE conference in Atlanta. Conference sessions focused heavily on Technology, Quality of Hire and Analytics. We’re still struggling to accurately measure effectiveness and real ROI. Do you have an objective Analyst evaluating the numbers to make sure investments are delivering? I had several conversations with attendees who wanted to engage with vendors but struggled to understand how the new options fit into an already crowded solutions mix. Shiny new things are great, when they bring real value. Again, we can help.
One of the other resolutions people seem to make, this time of year, is to find true love. Since recruiting is also about relationship building, it makes sense that technology trends align. A few years ago, every other new recruiting tool touted itself as the eHarmony of recruiting. This year, we’re seeing Tinder trends. Both the candidate and employer have to agree it’s a match before they’re connected.
For the Mad Men fans out there, one scene that caught my attention featured Don Draper frustrated with a client who was afraid to try something new and Don opined “Clients don’t understand their success comes from standing out, not fitting in.” How true, Don. How true! Be an innovator and stand out from the crowd!
I’d love to hear from you. What are your recruiting resolutions for 2016?
My resolutions include never placing another ad titled “Come Grow with Us” – (come on people, we can do better), to bring at least one fresh solution to clients each quarter, oh … and to get back on the trail and run a 10k.
Whatever your goals and objectives are Take Action Now! Do something (even one thing) that moves you forward.
Happy New Year!
